About Benji

I am a sinner, saved by grace, striving to be like Christ. I don’t have life figured out, but I have figured out where life comes from, and that is Jesus Christ. He is the source of all things good in my life and has never forsaken me even when He didn’t meet my expectations.

I’m a husband and father. Outside of the relationship with my Creator, my family is my greatest joy. They keep me grounded while challenging me to be who God has designed me to be. I live by four guiding principles: Love Deep. Live Free. Dream Big. Lead Well.

I’m not the friend who connects with you every day, but I am a friend you can connect with any day…even on your worst and darkest day. Need me? I’m there, in it, with you, until we both walk out.

We don’t become who we are without the influence of great people in our lives. I am the product of people who grabbed a collar when warranted and those who encouraged when needed…I am forever grateful.

I appreciate modern conveniences in life, but I find peace somewhere beside a mountain stream and campfire, away from the noise. Life is better near a trout stream, especially if I have a fly rod.

Missions has a special place in my heart, especially Haiti and her beautiful people. Someone once told me, “If you ever get Haiti dust on you, it doesn’t wash off.” I’ve found that to be true.

My writings are heavily influenced by each of these things as well as random moments of inspiration. From time to time, you may recognize one of these topics in my writing. Sometimes it is a vague undertone; other times it is a glaring statement.

I write short stories, non-fiction, biblical historical fiction, and whatever else finds its way from my brain to the keyboard at the moment. Regardless of the genre, my goal in writing is to trade a nugget for your time. I hope to write in a way that makes it easy to find a principle you consider worth taking with you when you leave and engaging enough that you want to return for another nugget.
