Don’t Fight the Help
It was 1840. The phone in my pocket rang telling me a patient’s heart monitor was off. As I walked in that direction, the tech was already headed in and told me to go finish up charting and get ready for report.
As I turned the corner heading back to my desk, she entered the room and immediately said…UUHHHH BENJI!!!
Had I realized the sun was being chased beneath the western horizon by a full moon…I would have ignored her and kept walking. The pleasantly confused patient was lying in a sea of liquid poop. It covered from knees to chest and both sides.
As we began cleaning the patient, she said, “This would be a great day to go home and write one of your positive posts.”
I thought..I believe I will.
You come here often to read my post…for that I’m thankful.
What you don’t see is there’s days Benji is covered in poo. Not physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
There’s days I struggle with being enough. Days when I’m the poster child for Lauren Dangle’s song, and “the best of me is barely breathing and I don’t feel like I’m worth defending…” I’m just praying He holds on to me.
Maybe you don’t understand the mess around you. Maybe you don’t know how it happened, but you’re not alone in your struggles…we all are fighting to keep our heads above water.
Find your happy place…the place that HE GIVES YOU PEACE…and return there often.
…and by all means, if somebody walks into the stink to help you get cleaned up…DON’T FIGHT THEM.
